How to Apply Lip Gloss

Lip gloss is a versatile beauty product. It can be used to enhance the shine and color of lipstick, or it can be used alone to add a bit of polish to a natural makeup look. Modern glosses are easy to apply, handy to carry, and they come in a wide variety of colors and textures. Careful application of lip gloss highlights the lips without making them look sticky or sloppy.

Step1
Exfoliate your lips lightly with a soft, clean toothbrush or damp washcloth if they are dry, flaky or peeling. This gives you a smooth surface on which to apply your lip gloss.

Step2
Apply your base color of lipstick, if desired. Lip gloss can be used over basic lipstick if you want a deep color with a lot of shine.

Step3
Load lip gloss from the tube or pot onto a wand or makeup brush. A wand is convenient on-the-go because it stores in the lip gloss tube, but a makeup brush designed for lipstick or lip gloss is more precise.

Step4
Begin in the center of your lower lip. Apply the gloss in short strokes until the natural line of your lips has been filled.

Step5
Repeat steps 3 to 4 until you have achieved the level of coverage and shine you desire.
